On the afternoon of June 10, 2025, the founding congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Green Business Association (HGBA) for the first term (2025–2030) officially took place, opening a new chapter in the journey of connecting the business community towards green, responsible and sustainable development.

Ho Chi Minh City Green Business Association (HGBA) is considered the first organization in Vietnam to focus on supporting and promoting environmentally friendly production and business models, while also playing a role in connecting financial, technological and human resources so that Vietnamese businesses can gradually transform themselves according to global trends.

Businessman Dinh Hong Ky holds the position of Chairman of HGBA for the first term

At the congress, Mr. Dinh Hong Ky – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Secoin Joint Stock Company – was elected as the first Chairman of HGBA. With more than 35 years of experience in the field of green building materials and experience leading the business community, Mr. Ky is expected to make HGBA a pioneer in green transformation in Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country.

Speaking at the congress, Mr. Dinh Hong Ky emphasized:

“This is not just a milestone for an organization, but the beginning of a journey to shape the future. Green transformation is no longer an option – it is a vital imperative for modern businesses.”

Multi-sectoral Executive Committee – The nucleus of green initiatives

The first-term HGBA Executive Committee consists of 52 members, including 17 members of the Standing Committee and 3 members of the Inspection Committee – representing many fields such as manufacturing, construction, energy, finance, media and technology. Journalist, Dr. To Dinh Tuan, Editor-in-Chief of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, also participated as a member of the Executive Committee.

Action orientation for the period 2025–2027: Green foundation for Vietnamese enterprises

HGBA aims to become an ecosystem that supports businesses in implementing effective and practical green transformation. Some key plans in the first 3 years include:

  • Establishing a Green Transformation Support Center for small and medium-sized enterprises.
  • Developing a digital connection platform Green Business Hub to spread knowledge and share green resources.
  • Organizing specialized fairs, sustainable development forums, and consulting and training programs on green technology.
  • Promoting energy audits, product life cycle assessments, and green finance.
  • Researching and implementing a carbon credit trading floor and promoting a green investment fund to expand access to preferential financial resources for businesses.

In the first year, HGBA aims to recruit at least 200 members, building the foundation for a network of businesses working together for sustainable development.

Discussion “Green transformation amid global upheaval” – Open dialogue from domestic and foreign experts

In parallel with the congress, the thematic discussion program attracted great attention from businesses, experts and the media. National and international speakers shared their perspectives on opportunities and challenges in the context of rapidly changing global supply chains and ESG standards increasingly becoming a decisive factor in international trade.

HGBA is not only an organization representing the business community interested in sustainable development – but also a platform for action, a starting point for creative and practical solutions in the green transformation journey of Vietnamese businesses.
