In the broader landscape of the construction materials industry, Mr. Dinh Hong Ky and Secoin have consistently strived to be pioneers. Secoin has not only contributed to elevating Vietnam’s construction materials sector to new heights but has also played a part in the journey toward sustainable development and the country’s goal of achieving Net Zero by 2050. Mr. Dinh Hong Ky is also an inspiring figure within the business community, advocating the importance of sustainable development and promoting solutions that align with Vietnam’s vision for a circular economy and Net Zero future.

With its roots as a family-owned business, Secoin began its journey with the mission of transforming Vietnam’s construction materials industry. Since its founding 35 years ago, Secoin’s leadership has pursued a strategy focused on “producing environmentally friendly products that protect the Earth’s climate and are regenerative.” Chairman Dinh Hong Ky dedicated significant time to studying markets in Germany, Italy, the United States, and South Korea to bring non-fired construction material technologies to Vietnam. Between 1995 and 2005, Secoin transferred technology to 50 non-fired material factories in Vietnam and was honored by the Ministry of Construction and the Vietnam Association for Building Materials as “a contributor to the creation of the non-fired building materials industry in Vietnam.”

More than 25 years ago, Secoin became the first to introduce Terrazzo tiles from Italy to Vietnam. It was also the first to launch colored roof tiles using Japan’s wet-pressing technology. Alongside these were Secoin’s signature handcrafted cement tiles, outdoor decorative tiles, breeze blocks, and artistic concrete—each carrying the company’s spirit of “always creating something new”—leaving a strong mark on both domestic and international markets.

Dinh Hong Ky has been dubbed the “guardian of traditional tiles,” the inheritor and developer of Vietnam’s cement tile industry to new heights. Secoin’s cement tiles have entered the high-end segment in over 60 countries. The global market highly values the natural beauty and eco-friendly production process of Secoin tiles, which require no heating, use minimal water, and employ a closed-loop water system in manufacturing. The products are also praised for their durability and end-of-life recyclability.

The current global economic crisis is reshaping the world’s economic order. Alongside that, the escalating threat of climate change is pushing the world toward Net Zero. This shift will transform traditional business models, compelling companies to rewrite their vision and mission in this new context. While challenging, this is also a significant opportunity for businesses that align themselves with humanity’s inevitable direction.

In pursuit of Net Zero, Secoin has made firm and meaningful commitments through concrete actions.

In recent years, Dinh Hong Ky and Secoin have actively pursued sustainable development toward Net Zero. By joining the global green supply chain, Secoin has built a sustainable foundation in the international market through notable initiatives such as:

  • Positive Products: A multi-criteria approach including product safety, use of renewable materials, human rights protection, durability, and environmentally efficient design.

  • Building a sustainable management system following international ICS (Initiative for Compliance and Sustainability) standards.

  • International certification VOC A+ for product safety and consumer health.

  • One of the first companies in Vietnam to measure carbon emissions across its production system since 2020.

Secoin Chairman Dinh Hong Ky also serves as Vice Chairman in charge of sustainable development at the Ho Chi Minh City Business Association (HUBA). In September 2023, he was Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee for the 2023 Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum, themed “Green Growth – The Journey Toward Net Zero Emissions.”
