Exactly 17 years ago today, after a long flight from Barcelona, Mom and Dad set foot in New York, in America for the first time. Dad still remembers this day, after a day of working with a partner, Mom and Dad went for a walk in New York. That day Mom was wearing high heels, probably due to the quality of the clogs bought for tens of thousands at the beginning of Hang Dau Street (Hanoi), so after walking for a while her feet hurt so much that she had to take them off and go barefoot, praising: “American roads are smooth and clean like in our own home!”. When she got home, she stopped by the pharmacy to buy a pregnancy test because Mom felt it was past her due date…
And that day was the day Mom and Dad knew Bean was born.
So, it wasn’t that Bean hadn’t been to America yet, but Bean had come and felt America through Mom’s eyes.
That time Mom and Dad had a trip that was both “heartbreaking” and business. They flew exactly around the world: Hanoi-Bangkok-Frankfurt-Florence-Barcelona-New York-Los Angeles-Bangkok-Hanoi.
Calculating the date, Mom and Dad “had a baby” in Frankfurt am Main, so they named him Duc, Dinh Hong Duc.
That’s the story of Bean’s birth, Tit and Be Vung!
